The word poya refers to the annual spring ascent of cattle to high Alpine meadows and its depiction in folk art. Starting in the early 1800s, farmers painted their herds, herders, and gear on wood panels, mounting them on façades to announce prosperity, some 800 images survive in Gruyère alone. La Poya recreates that communal spirit and mountain ritual in luxurious merino form.
